NICOLE CASTKA
FOR WAYNE COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE

Nicole Castka has dedicated her life and her career to public service in the city of Detroit and Wayne County. For nearly three decades she has brought justice and fair play to her work as a passionate advocate for her clients as a criminal defense attorney.  Her experience in the courts varies from simple traffic violations to complex first-degree murder cases, conducting over hundreds of jury trials. This level of experience in the criminal courts is unmatched by any of the other candidates.
COMMUNITY
Nicole was inspired to start the Create a Bright Life Detroit Chapter in 2017, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that has fed and clothed over 61,095 homeless people in Detroit alone. Nicole has appeared free of charge in several courts assisting to clear warrants so these citizens have an opportunity to obtain stable employment and housing, so they can thrive instead of barely getting by.

Nicole also volunteers to expand and protect election integrity and voter rights, human rights, medical privacy rights and urban farming initiatives. On any given weekend, you can find Nicole in a community garden volunteering or holding an Expungement Clinic to help educate citizens about the law. Nicole Castka doesn’t just talk the talk – she walks the walk.
History
HISTORY
Nicole was raised in rural Ohio by hard-working, yet under-educated parents, eventually saving enough of her own hard-earned money to come to Detroit to go to law school. Her upbringing gives her insight into people from all walks of life, all socio-economic backgrounds, and all levels of education.

After law school she worked for the public defender’s office in Detroit for 7 years where she developed an even deeper compassion for the underserved community. Serving as a public defender gave her special insight into the needs and concerns of Wayne County’s citizens and gives her the expertise and experience needed to serve Detroit and Wayne County as a judge.

It is her personal mission to bring fairness, kindness and humanity to the Wayne County Circuit Court bench.
BELIEFS
When not advocating for her clients, volunteering or working at her non-profit, Nicole is a vigorous advocate of healthy foods, healthy bodies, and healthy minds.

She teaches yoga, meditation, pranayama and loves spreading her compassion for people through wellness and healthful living in the metro-Detroit area since 2011. Nicole believes that when we lift one another up, we are all lifted up.

Nicole will walk the walk for the citizens of Wayne County. She knows hard work. She knows the law. She knows fairness. She knows compassion. She knows what the citizens need and deserve from their judges in the courtroom. Experience. Service. Justice.
